Alan McGlade, President and CEO of The Box Music Network, an MTV Networks company, has been named to the Board of Directors of Pure Matrix, Inc. (www.purematrix.com), effective immediately. The appointment of Mr. McGlade was announced today by Douglas W. Holbrook, Senior Vice President of Pure Matrix, Inc., a developer of next-generation products and services for the Mobile Internet.
Mr. McGlade, a widely recognized expert in the field of interactive television, has been associated with Pure Matrix as an investor since the company’s inception in 2000.
"Over the past two decades, Alan McGlade has been a driving force behind several high-profile programming, advertising and marketing services that have resulted in major growth opportunities for the cable television industry,” Mr. Holbrook said. “In today’s era of rapidly converging technology, Pure Matrix is fortunate to benefit from Alan's proven expertise as we develop our advanced products and services for the Mobile Internet."
Under Mr. McGlade's management since 1993, The Box Music Network significantly increased its availability to more than 40 million homes. The world’s first interactive music television service, The Box Music Network was acquired by Viacom and became part of its MTV Networks group in 1999.
Earlier in his career, Mr. McGlade pioneered StarNet’s digital, marketing, advertising and information services for cable. These services included an early partnership with TV Guide for the original version of its electronic program guide. Mr. McGlade also founded Adlink, the first satellite-delivered cable advertising distribution service, and he was chief programmer for a cable television group. Mr. McGlade’s business accolades include being named one of Entrepreneur Magazine's "Top 40 Entrepreneurs Under 40" in 1992.
Pure Matrix is based in Boulder, Colorado, and has begun regional sales operations in North America and Europe. Asian sales efforts will follow. Having successfully completed a recent $2.7 million round of financing, the company anticipates another larger round later this year to support full commercial deployment of its products and services. In addition, Pure Matrix is seeking alliances and partnerships with leading companies involved in the applications, distribution, technology and content sectors of the Mobile Internet industry. Pure Matrix is a member of the industry’s WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) Forum. About Pure Matrix: Pure Matrix was founded in 2000 to develop next-generation products and services that move beyond the current first-generation constraints of the “fixed Internet.” These products and services are designed to enable the industry to better handle large numbers of mobile communities and location-based services, and to properly address individual customer preferences and demographics.
